Elementary Computing

CSR-70

Elementary Computing provides group and independent practice activities that build creativity, communication, and collaboration while teaching students computation and logic. Built on an elementary school standards-based computer science curriculum, the class engages young students with fun activities, games, and lessons that introduce concepts of coding and develop critical reasoning and problem solving skills.

Instructors use online and classroom resources to teach students to write, describe, and apply algorithms using multiple coding concepts and to read and modify scripts to change what happens on the screen. The class also prepares students for and administers computer science competition tests from national competition organizations so students can apply their skills and see their progress.

This course is intended to provide an early start in computer science fundamentals and concepts for elementary school students in grades 3 and 4.
